But kelp is especially rich in iodine, which is so lacking in Europeans.

Secondly, it is a dietary product, the digestion of which takes more caloriesthan it contains: seaweed without seasonings and sauces per hundred grams of the product gives only 6 kcal, and with the addition of onions, spices and oil, they become just over twenty. The benefits of sea kale were not learned today – it has long been appreciated and eaten in large quantities in many countries.

Many coastal natives have used seaweed for centuries as an antipyretic and diaphoretic. In Ireland and India, kelp was used to treat tuberculosis. In ancient Chinese medicine, kelp was used in recovery from illness, during physical labor and mental stress.
