I don’t know what associations you have with the word “melon”, but before my eyes there appears an oriental beauty with amazingly velvety skin, shining eyes and a scattering of long hair, sitting on a chic carpet and eating a juicy melon with appetite. Here again, with her graceful fingers, she takes another slice, carefully puts it in her mouth, and a little in the distance, a man lying on the pillows (certainly some sheikh!) from under half-closed eyelids watches her with satisfaction … The beginning of a love affair, not less. And what was my surprise when, having started collecting information for this article, I gradually learned that the skin, eyes, and hair are not by chance so luxurious in my charmer – eating a ripe melon, she thereby takes care of her beauty! Are you intrigued? I tell you the details about our exotic beauty (about a melon, in the sense):
As it turned out, melon is just a storehouse of carotenoids, active compounds of honey, it even contains digestible gold! Of course, its main composition is water and sugars, but many substances that are extremely useful for our body have found their place in its fragrant pulp.
Due to the high content of ascorbic, folic acids and carotene, melon is recognized as a valuable vitamin product. Among vegetables and fruits, melon, in terms of iron content, is on a par with onions and radishes, slightly behind strawberries, black currants and garlic. According to the content of microelements in the melon, there is especially a lot of calcium – the first place among vegetables and fruits (and these are healthy bones, teeth, nails). It quenches thirst well, calms the nervous system, has a very mild effect on the gastrointestinal tract (with moderate use), and normalizes the water-salt balance. For therapeutic and prophylactic purposes, melon can be used as a general tonic, sedative, diuretic, mild laxative, stimulant of hematopoiesis, anti-sclerotic and even anti-rheumatic agent.
But keep in mind – a single use of a large amount of melon is undesirable, this can lead to an “overload” of the intestines and provoke intestinal colic. In addition, you can enjoy the melon strictly 2-3 hours after eating, as it is incompatible with anything. Especially “not friendly” melon with milk, dairy products, eggs. If you ate a melon, then give up on this day from these products. Also, do not drink cold water or alcoholic beverages immediately after taking a melon – it is fraught with intestinal upset.
