The most common violations
If a bad mood and depression persist for more than a month, you should think about the presence of depression. Such recommendations are given by psychologists. Along the way, advising to check the body for malfunctions in the hormonal system. Problems may vary. For example, when the endocrine glands produce too much or too little hormones. And one of the most common disorders is an imbalance of thyroid hormones. Be sure you will feel it right away. Symptoms are depression, fatigue, lack of tone, weakness, drowsiness, weight problems.
It is advisable for women to check the concentration of female hormones – prolactin, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH). A change in their concentration affects the work of the reproductive system. Imbalance of female sex hormones can lead to mood swings, sleep problems, loss of appetite (when you want to seize an anxious mood).
What do doctors recommend? At least check your hormone levels 1-2 times a year. It is worth remembering that hormonal imbalance can happen not only in the autumn-winter period – this unpleasant phenomenon can provoke a number of moments.
What can cause imbalance
Hormonal changes can be observed at any age and at any time of the year – they can be provoked by lack of sleep, taking certain medications, an unbalanced diet, a large number of bad habits, a sharp change in time and climatic zones. But still, we all often face hormonal changes in the autumn-winter period.
In autumn, when daylight hours gradually decrease, the body produces less vitamin D, it becomes insufficient for normal hormonal metabolism. Please note that this vitamin does not accumulate in the body, for its normal synthesis, you need not only to spend more time in the sun, but also eat more foods with calcium and vitamins A and E – this is primarily oily sea fish, eggs, sesame seeds and nuts .
Simultaneously with a lack of vitamin D in the autumn-winter period, the level of the stress hormone cortisol rises, and thyroid function decreases. Many of us note that at this time the body begins to insistently ask for more food, especially sweet and fatty ones. So the level of insulin “jumps”. As a result, it is more difficult for us to resist infections, the tone decreases. The mood is at zero, I want to get under the covers and not get up from the couch.
General weakness, fatigue, drowsiness during the working day, cravings for sweets, the desire to drink more coffee than usual, the inability to lose weight, the active growth of additional unnecessary kilograms and menstrual irregularities. These are all signs of a hormonal imbalance. Wake up and shine motivation does not help in such cases, and it is impossible to delay. No amount of positive thinking, talking with friends, or, worse, strict diets will bring relief – no energy will be added, the tone will not rise by itself.
With such complaints, you should contact a therapist or endocrinologist. It is very important not to take tests before going to the doctor – the composition of the blood and the hormonal profile must be found out at the request and direction of a specific specialist. It may make sense to check your vitamin D levels during this period.
Test yourself
We list the signs that may indicate the presence of a hormonal imbalance:
-
for no reason throws into a fever;
-
edema appeared;
-
hair fall out;
-
nails become brittle;
-
dry skin – creams do not help;
-
jumps in blood pressure;
-
weight change (you seize a bad mood or, conversely, a piece does not fit in your throat);
-
pain in the joints;

-
sleep problems (insomnia lasts longer than three weeks).
These violations are enough to turn to a therapist as soon as possible, and then to an endocrinologist. The latter will prescribe tests, study the results and prescribe therapy. The latter will be aimed either at suppressing the increased activity of the glands, or at stimulating the “vacationers”. After 3-6 months, you will again take tests to make sure that the treatment is effective.
