How do the pelvic floor muscles work?
They support all internal organs. These are the same muscles that stop urination, hold back bowel movements. Also, the muscles of the pelvic floor narrow the entrance to the vagina and contract during orgasm. Three sphincters: cystic, vaginal and rectal are part of the pelvic floor muscles. If they are stretched, problems begin in the body: the organs that rest on the pelvic floor are deformed, the uterus shifts down, the bottom of the uterus rises, a bend occurs, a hernia of the rectum or a hernia of the bladder can form. If the process progresses, the vaginal stack begins to protrude. The situation can worsen – up to uterine prolapse (extreme).
In addition to these problems, there are a number of unpleasant consequences, in particular, urinary incontinence, the appearance of pain during intercourse, lack of orgasm and, in general, a decrease in the pleasure of intimacy.
So, the symptoms of weakness of the pelvic floor muscles:
urinary incontinence when laughing, running, sneezing;
pain during intercourse;
pressure, heaviness, or a feeling of fullness in the perineum;
pain in the lower abdomen, constant discomfort;
protrusion of the perineum;
lack of orgasm;
prolapse of the walls of the vagina and uterus;
Why are these muscles so important in childbirth?
Weakness of the pelvic floor muscles is an undesirable condition for expectant mothers. Good muscles are necessary so that the fetal head, passing through the birth canal, more easily completes all the moments of the biomechanism: it bends, makes an internal turn, unbends and makes an external turn. She needs muscle support.
Further, when the fetal head passes through the ring of external genital organs, the woman needs to relax her muscles as much as possible. This can be done if the muscles are well trained.
And the third stage is recovery after childbirth. This is a separate topic that is relevant for many women. Good, high-quality sex after childbirth exists! If the pelvic floor muscles are strengthened, they recover faster after childbirth. If not, you need to urgently deal with them and restore them, and with them a harmonious relationship with a partner.
It must be remembered that in the human body everything is one. The muscles of the pelvic floor are connected with the muscles of the legs, hip joints. The weakness of the pelvic floor is always associated with the prolapse of the internal organs (due to trauma to the coccyx or sacrum). Therefore, it is necessary to return the organs to their place through osteopathic treatment and certain exercises.
How to help yourself at home
There is a simple but effective exercise to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles. It can be done daily at any time. You can contract the muscles in a comfortable rhythm:
reduced by one step, relaxed by the second;
strained for 2-3 steps, relaxed – for one step;
for 5 steps we strain, increase the voltage and for 5 steps we gradually reduce the voltage.
Combine these options. You can perform such contractions while standing still. The main thing is not to forget to do the exercise every day and the more often the better. The result will not keep you waiting.
