Visits to the gynecologist are rare
According to London-based blogger Anastasia Shimshilashvili, who gave birth to two children there, pregnant women in England attend antenatal clinics much less frequently than in Russia. Personally, this did not please her too much, but in Russia there are many women who would prefer to visit the gynecologist less often during the observation period. If we are not talking about pregnancy with pathologies, of course. In our country, a woman comes to the gynecologist in the first two trimesters every 20 days: donate urine, blood, stand on the scales, measure blood pressure, talk about complaints, if any. In the third trimester, visits become more frequent: every ten days. In England, pregnant women visit the doctor on a scheduled basis once every one and a half months. Ultrasound is also done less frequently (specifically – twice), but, according to reviews, in more detail. With us, if you are not doing the procedure in a private clinic, ultrasound takes a little time – the screen is turned away to the doctor, who comments on what he sees. In London, ultrasounds are done on huge screens – the expectant mother and her support group (for example, husband, mother) can look at everything in detail, film it on the phone or ask to be recorded on a disc.
“In my opinion, during my first pregnancy, they only took blood from me twice – including at 28 weeks, when they check for sugar. This is mandatory, since according to statistics, every tenth pregnant woman acquires diabetes, which can remain after pregnancy. It is considered obligatory to carry an exchange card with you all the time of pregnancy, so that in which case the doctors have all the data about you and the course of your pregnancy.
In the subway, British women take with them a badge with the inscription baby on board – seeing it, a woman should give up her seat. In the Moscow metro, despite the announcements, pregnant women are far from always inferior. Most passengers prefer to bury their heads on the phone, pretending not to notice a woman with a belly. Or do they really not see it?
Paid childbirth is nonsense
“To give birth in London for a fee is something beyond. Most do it for free under insurance (NHS). There is no such thing: paid childbirth is better. Popular childbirth in the pool, vertical childbirth. But in Moscow, this is also practiced now, although the majority give birth in the classical position. But in England, it is precisely vertical childbirth that is advised: it is believed that it is easier for a woman to get rid of the burden. They also insist that childbirth be partnered, that is, that the woman in labor is not alone at this moment – for a woman this is a less stressful situation. Instead of a partner, a husband can be a mother, sister or girlfriend.
In England, they are only admitted to the maternity hospital when you have a uterine dilatation of four centimeters and regular contractions: three times within ten minutes for at least 45 seconds in duration. That is, there is no point in coming earlier – they will be deployed. Here’s another important thing: in England, an ambulance does not carry women in labor! A woman should get there on her own: either by metro, or by taxi, by private transport. The taxi driver has the right to refuse to take you, most often this happens. In Russia, an ambulance is obliged to deliver a woman in labor to the nearest maternity hospital.
Yes, after natural childbirth without complications, they are discharged after 8-10 hours, after cesarean section – after 24 hours, maximum after 48. It seems to me that this is too fast … But they explain that childbirth is a completely natural process, plus such Thus, there is less risk in newborns to become infected with something. In Russia, as far as I know, they can keep you in a maternity hospital for three or four days.
There is no diet for a young mother: you can eat whatever your heart desires. Actually, after giving birth, you will be offered a hearty breakfast, lunch – depending on the time of the day. In general, everything has its pros and cons.
Bonuses from the city authorities
Compared with Moscow, paid childbirth is very popular in our country. This gives you the opportunity to choose a doctor you definitely trust, plus a separate room after. Still, the echoes of Soviet times are strong: you can still find reviews of women who remember midwives and their attitude towards women in labor as a nightmare. It is believed that if you paid, the attitude will definitely be different. Births under a contract in the capital will cost 100-110 thousand rubles on average
We add that many people attribute presents from local authorities to the unequivocal pluses of childbirth in Moscow. Alas, there is no such thing in the regions. All those giving birth in the capital’s maternity hospitals, since recently, regardless of registration, are given the so-called set from Mayor Sobyanin. It includes the necessary things for a newborn: young mothers agree that this is a pleasant, expensive and really useful gift. For the sake of it, people go to Moscow to give birth even from neighboring regions! Instead of a set, you can choose a monetary equivalent – 20 thousand rubles. Also, in the capital and Moscow region maternity hospitals, a registry office employee registers the baby on the spot – parents do not need to specially go to the MFC for this. So there are a lot of positives everywhere.
