The benefits of breast milk and vaccinations

Each of us is born with a certain immunity. If a baby is born full-term, the mother has time to give him antibodies for protection. Transmission occurs through the placenta in the third trimester of pregnancy (the last weeks of this period are especially important). Then mother’s milk comes into play. WHO representatives and doctors are not in vain so advocating for breastfeeding: it has been proven that children who receive mother’s milk in the first years of life have stronger immunity, are less susceptible to sores and infections. Mother’s milk forms the protective forces of the child’s body. It contains about 500 (!) ingredients: a quarter of them are immune components. Therefore, women are strongly recommended to feed the baby even during illness: the mother’s body produces antibodies that will be transmitted to the baby.

Another important point that affects the immune system is vaccination. Vaccinations contribute to the formation of immunity against especially dangerous infectious diseases. Now parents themselves decide what vaccinations to do, but for those who refuse them, doctors are always recommended to familiarize themselves with the numbers of infant mortality from tuberculosis and pneumococcus. poliomyelitis, whooping cough, hepatitis A and B and other deadly diseases.

indicators of weak immunity

There are criteria by which you can say for sure whether your immunity is weak or normal, viable. According to the immunologist Andrey Prodeus, if an adult suffers from colds more than five times a year, one can confidently speak about the weak defenses of his body. This is also indicated by the presence of more than three purulent diseases during the calendar year. We are talking about sinusitis, otitis media, pneumonia.

Children have different numbers. Parents often complain that the kid in kindergarten is constantly sick, they say we go for a week, two – we sit at home with another cold. It turns out that if a child does not attend kindergarten, he can get sick up to nine times a year – this is considered the norm. If he walks, then the rate is considered twice as often, that is, up to eighteen times. And in this case, you need to go to a consultation with an immunologist.

Loneliness lowers immunity

What can lower our immunity? Studies show that the ability of the body to resist viruses and infections is negatively affected by … loneliness. Scientists analyzed urine tests for stress hormones from single participants in the experiment. As you know, chronic stress does not contribute to the strengthening of anything. Blood was also taken for analysis, examining the number of leukocytes responsible for anti-inflammatory reactions. The results showed that in lonely people, the presence of stress hormones in the urine (cortisol, adrenaline) is much more pronounced and the activity of antiviral cells is reduced. Thus, the authors of the study proved that chronic stress (due to loneliness) reduces the body’s ability to resist infections.

It is generally accepted that hardening positively affects the strengthening of immunity – dousing with cold water, sleeping with an open window, playing sports. Doctors assure that there is no direct connection. Leading a healthy lifestyle is always good, but our immunity is activated by completely different things. Namely: vaccination in adulthood (revaccination), healthy sleep, vitamin D in the right amount.

Try to sleep from 23:30 to 02:30 – during this period the body is recovering, immune cells (phagocytes) are doing their job. It is also very important to get the required amount of vitamin D. We live in latitudes where sunny days are rare, and therefore this vitamin is vital for us. It is given to children from the first months of life in the form of drops. Adults can take an analysis for the presence of a vitamin in the body and make up for its lack on their own.
